As I have mentioned before, I now have a new(er) computer in my possession.

This new computer will probably have little impact on my Rain Barrel work since, as you can see, it's mostly text-driven.

But what will impact my leisure time is the fact that my computer is now powerful enough to handle sound and sound editing. One of the first things I downloaded once I got my 'Machine of Loving Grace' functional, was the Dance ejay2 Demo.

It all brings to mind a piece I remember reading in which the author liken the modern PC computer to the early engine.  Did you know that when the engine was still in its infancy, it was sold to households as ... well, as an engine. Then the buyer could purchase various attachments like the "Kitchen Mixer" attachment to turn the engine into a household appliance.

The author predicted that just as household  appliances eventually absorbed the engine and became powerful objects in their own right, smart objects like cell phones and rice cookers will absorb the computer and we will find the PC no longer necessary. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I read this insight - it might have been in this book, but I can't be sure.

In the meantime, gentlepeople start your engines!
